Widya Indriani was born and grew up in Bandung, Indonesia. She completed her Bachelor of Agriculture Technology in Food Technology at Padjadjaran University. Afterwards, she started her professional career in the food and beverage industry as Quality Assurance for a restaurant chain group in Indonesia. Due to her interest in food science and nutrition and their association with human’s health, she pursued her master’s degree in human nutrition at the University of Glasgow, Scotland. Her master was fully funded by the Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP) scholarship.
Prior to joining i3L, Widya worked in a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) in Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara as a research assistant. She worked on a collaborative research project between the NGO and World Health Organization (WHO) focusing on antenatal care during pregnancy.
Widya has a keen interest in nutrition in infancy and childhood, as well as community nutrition. Her thesis focus was on a Study on Validation in Translation of Universal Feeding Scale for Children Aged 6-24 Months in Indonesia. During her master program, she took Public Health Nutrition as her specialisation. She believes that along with nutrition education, a synergy between several sectors in the society contributes essentially in preventing nutrition-related diseases and in achieving community health and wellbeing.
